After 24 years of serving as an English Lecturer at a private university in Surabaya, I thought I knew everything about teaching. But looking back at the nicknames my students gave me—Lecturer Killer, Grumpy, and Allien—I realized I wasn't just teaching English; I was radiating my own internal struggles.
I got these nicknames from alumni and colleagues. I was known as cold, strict, rarely smiling, and quick to anger. Before I did not know energy, those name made me angry. In the language of energy, the students' comments sensed my low happiness level.
This is the story of how Soul Meter (SM) changed my classroom from a place of intimidation to a sanctuary of peace. With SM, I realised those labels reflected negativity I radiated— rooted in personal disappointment and anger from family issues. Then, I need to focus on my self awareness. Starting in February 2020, I began using Soul Meter to support all my academic duties.
SOUL METER (SM) is a tool that allows me to sense, measure, and clear the energy or karma I share with others by checking my emotional state and intention before interacting. My professional life has become much easier and more effective, allowing me to handle my household responsibilities with greater peace of mind. My children are also happy because their mother is no longer stressed or nagging. Here are some of my experiences using Soul Meter on campus:
Addressing Mental Domination Toward Students.
Before 2020, my students had trouble understanding my explanations and often couldn’t answer my questions, even though they had the textbooks early. I used to blame others, thinking the students were lazy, not smart, or just didn’t like me. As a result, I only liked the smart students who answered correctly. With Soul Meter, I began clearing misguidance (penyesatan) and mental domination. Knowing the number of karma debt helped me teach with a calm and peaceful heart. I always ensure I am in a state of Neutrality, Happiness Level 10 before addressing these energetic ties.
Clearing Curses Toward Students
Previously, I demanded complete silence and sent students out for breaking the rules. This created fear, preventing real learning; students only spoke about me outside class. Now, I practice Olah Rasa (emotional processing). I am much calmer. When I need to remind a student about their behaviour, I do it consciously, using gentle language so they don't feel offended. After clearing these curses (negative energetic projections), my inner self feels much cooler, and my mind is clear. My current students now listen me well as my words are no longer painful. Teaching has become a peaceful experience.
Resolving Negative Karma at the Start of the Semester
I used to face constant problems—disruptive students, complaints, and grading issues. Now, my teaching feels calm because I follow this routine:
- I use SM by sitting quietly and focusing on each student's name from the attendance list. I ask myself internally how many points of 'negative karma' I have with each student and record the number that comes to mind.
- To resolve the karma, I calmly focus on the student and intend for the energy between us to be cleared, repeating the process until the points reach zero while making sure I remain at Happiness 10.
- I’ve noticed that when I feel annoyed with a student, their karma points are usually high. In the past, I might have given that student a 'C' even if they were smart. Now, I clear the energy first so I can evaluate fairly.
Honestly, I need some cleansing times to be lower points. It's normal for me as I understand that the students and I must have karma from some life cycles.
Determining Schedules and Campus Activities
A lecturer’s job is more than just teaching—it also includes research, writing textbooks, and community service. I always felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day. I used to feel overwhelmed and often couldn’t finish important tasks. Now, I use SM by quietly contemplating my planned activities and tuning in to whether they feel aligned with Divine Will or create inner resistance. I start by internally asking a question about karma related to Activity X and sense the number of points that arise in my mind. points?
- What is the best hour/day/month to start?
- Is this exam material suitable for the students?
- How many questions should be given for this specific test?
Selecting Project Teams
University work often involves collaboration. In the past, I didn't pay attention to karma, leading to misunderstandings and poor results. Since 2022, I have checked energy before picking Team Me. Before each meeting or collaboration, I quietly reflect on the person and the task, asking inwardly, "What is the karma score for collaborating with Person X on Task A?" I note the number that comes up, aware that these points can fluctuate with circumstances.
- Does Person X have the competence for this task?
- Can Person X communicate well with Person Y?
- Will Person X perform this task with full responsibility?
Today, my former students (who are now my colleagues) tell me I look fresher and younger. My children at home are happier because I no longer bring campus stress into the house. By surrendering my ego to the Soul Meter process, I’ve found that teaching isn't just about transferring knowledge—it's about transferring peace.
Thank you, Bunda Arsaningsih, for this life-changing wisdom!
